Maradona, up for auction

Matchday Football Auctions will put several items from Diego’s life up for sale on October 28th. The number ten is more present than ever.

Diego Armando Maradona is once again making headlines. The legacy of the “Cosmic Kite” will be auctioned off by the auction house Matchday Football Auctions. The company will be putting on the market various garments and accessories that marked the life of “Pelusa,” from official jerseys, including the one worn in “The Battle of the Bernabéu” against Athletic Bilbao, to the earrings he wore in his farewell match, his last with Boca Juniors, and his now legendary remark: “I made a mistake and paid, but the ball doesn’t get dirty.”

Five years after leaving the earthly plane, Diego’s figure is more present than ever. Everything related to the Argentine is a sensation, and it’s no wonder his winning jersey against England in the quarterfinals of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico remains the most expensive shirt sold to date, at least in the most expensive sport: €7.9 million.
