BIO: Diego Armando Maradona was an Argentine footballer and coach.
As a player, he played as an attacking midfielder or forward, and is considered by numerous experts, former footballers, and international figures to be one of the greatest footballers in history.
Maradona signed for Sevilla due to the insistence of Argentine coach Carlos Bilardo, then manager of the Seville-based club.
After receiving authorization, he was able to negotiate his contract and joined Sevilla once the La Liga season had already begun. His presentation took place on September 28th in a friendly match against Bayern Munich, the team where his friend Lothar Matthäus played.
He made his official debut for Sevilla on October 4th, 1992, in a match corresponding to the fifth round of La Liga. Interestingly, Sevilla’s opponent was Athletic Club, the same club against which he had played his last match in Spanish football eight years earlier. Three days later, at the Sánchez Pizjuán, he scored his first official goal with the Nervión team, which would give the Seville club the victory.
