BIO: Ricardo Vaghi is one of River Plate’s greatest idols, where he played professionally from 1935 to 1949 without ever leaving for another club. He won 16 titles as a player for the club. With the Argentine team, he won nine championships, four national cups, and five international trophies.
The accolades Ricardo Vaghi achieved with River Plate, if we include national championships, are: the 1936 Copa Campeonato, the 1936, 1937, 1941, 1942, 1945, and 1947 Copa de Oro, the last four as the undisputed leader of River Plate’s defense in the famous team “La Máquina”. The four national cups won are: the 1937 and 1941 Copa Ibarguren, the 1941 and 1942 Copa Escobar, and the five editions of the Aldao Cup that River Plate won in its history. The editions won were in the years: 1936, 1937, 1941, 1945 and 1947. Of the most successful champions, Vaghi holds the distinction of being the first three-time champion ina row in River Plate’s history, having won the 1936 championship, the 1936 Gold Cup and 1937. He also has the privilege of being the first two-time champion, having won the 1941 and 1942 championships.
